Obituary for Marie Catherine Dunn (Ackerman)
Marie Catherine (Ackerman) Dunn of LeRoy, New York passed peacefully on September 2, 2022 at the age of 95. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Otto Dunn who passed May 16, 1997.
Marie was born in Rochester, New York. She was the daughter of the late Albert Alan Ackerman and Erna Elsie (Yahn) Ackerman of Scottsville, New York. Marie formally worked at the Art Craft Company of Rochester, New York during the Korean War and later sold Tri-Chem liquid embroidery. She spent many years providing loving child care for friends and family. She created beautiful fabric art works while also being an avid knitter and crochet artist. Marie was a member of the Chili American Legion Post 1830 Lady’s Auxiliary for over 72 years.
She is survived by two children, Thomas A. (Cheryl) Dunn of Cochranville, Pennsylvania and Doreen M. (Seger) (Donald) Graham of Wyoming, New York; six grandchildren, Andrew T. Dunn, Matthew C. Seger, Tyler R. (Jackyln) Seger, Christopher T. Dunn, Angela S. Graham and Corey M. Parlette; and two great-grandchildren: Adam T. Dunn and Colton M. Seger.
She was preceded in death by one son, Steven A. Dunn and three siblings, George P. Ackerman, Albert W. Ackerman, and John F. Ackerman. Marie is survived by two sibling, Barbara T. Graham of Scottsdale, Arizona and Rita M. Vokes of Caledonia, New York.
Her Funeral Mass will be held 10 A.M. on Tuesday, September 13th at St. Mary's Church,St. Martin de Porres Parish, 99 Main Street, Scottsville, NY. Following the mass, burial ceremonies will be held at Scottsville’s Holy Angel's Cemetery. A ‘Celebration of Life’ gathering will be held for all Marie’s family and friends from 12 to 3 pm at the Chili American Legion Post 1830 at 450 Chili-Scottsville Rd. following the funeral.
